Law of the Future FORUM

09:00 - 14:30 hrs

The Forum is a closed and exclusive part of the Conference. Participation is by personal invitation only. HiiL will bring together approximately 50 leading experts from government, business, civil society and academia to explore and exchange views on the challenges for legal systems. The Forum will be opened with a plenary debate, followed by discussions in small working groups and concluded with a plenary expert panel.

Law of the Future CONFERENCE DAY II

On the 2nd Conference day the discussion will be enriched with insights arising from HiiL’s research activities. Following the opening keynotes speeches in the plenary session, two rounds of parallel workshops are organised. 
The conference workshops will serve two purposes:

  • Presenting the HiiL research projects and their (preliminary) findings;
  • Connecting these findings to the Law of the Future theme.

Jan M. Smits will speak about the research undertaken in HiiL’s project portfolio and the implications it has for the law of the future. His approach is one of identifying functions of law and assessing how these functions can be better met in a globalising world.
